VERY rare pic of MH-47D from Gulf war, so far the only known pic ....
NOTE:
There is no photographic evidence of them from Persian Gulf (so far), but those MH-47Ds were available at that time (83-24110 crashed in 1990 in Panama), so they were probably all used in Gulf (rotated for maintenance etc.)
Maybe some of them were left in USA for training. No other info found so far.
Modeler´s note:
The MH-47Ds were equipped with:
- radar (lenghtened nose , not same as in CH-47D !!)
- FLIR turret
- M134 miniguns in front windows (both sides)
- inflight refueling probe
- 3 x Robertson auxiliary fuel tank (800 gallons each)
- remember that MH-47Ds has the classic CH-47D sponsons with fuel tanks, not the larger ones like in MH-47E/G !!!
For modellers: MH-47D longer radar nose with RWRs and overall view with longer nose, FLIR under the nose and various antennas and bumps
